At Heathfield International School Bangkok (HISB), we believe that education goes beyond academics—it’s also about empowering students to make informed, healthy choices. As part of our commitment to student wellbeing, we proudly marked World No Tobacco Day with a powerful event designed to raise awareness about the risks of e-cigarettes and vaping.

This student-led initiative was planned and coordinated by Puffin, a dedicated Year 12 student, whose leadership and passion for public health education helped bring the event to life. With her initiative, HISB welcomed back two of our proud alumni, both now thriving in their respective fields. Dr. Prim (Titchayakorn Niumpradit MD.), a medical doctor, returned to speak about the serious health risks associated with vaping, while Tee (Theeka Sean Niumpradit), currently studying law at Chulalongkorn University, addressed the legal consequences of using and possessing e-cigarettes in Thailand. Their talks brought real-world relevance to a growing issue that affects youth globally and increasingly, here in Bangkok.

Dr. Prim debunked common myths about vaping being a “safer” alternative and offered evidence-based insights that resonated with our students. Her message was clear: vaping is not harmless, and the long-term consequences can be severe.
Tee took a different angle, diving into the legal implications of vaping in Thailand. He explained how Thai law prohibits the import, sale, and possession of e-cigarettes, and that even personal use can lead to fines and legal trouble. His presentation helped students understand that breaking vaping laws can result in serious consequences even for minors.
In addition to our alumni, Mr. Sarin, our school counsellor, led a thoughtful session on the mental and emotional effects of nicotine addiction. He emphasized that addiction doesn’t only affect the body it impacts motivation, focus, and mental health. His talk encouraged students to think critically about peer pressure and how to stand firm in making positive choices.
What made the event truly special was the energy and enthusiasm of our secondary students, who actively participated and showed genuine interest in the topic. Their engagement reflected the strong culture of inquiry and awareness that we cultivate at HISB.
A special thanks goes to Pooh from Year 12, who helped capture the event through photography.
This World No Tobacco Day event highlights HISB’s ongoing commitment to student wellbeing, holistic education, and community engagement. As a leading international school in Bangkok, we strive to create opportunities where students learn not just from textbooks, but from real-world voices and experiences.

We are incredibly proud of our alumni, who continue to embody the values of HISB and return to inspire future generations. Their involvement reminds us that at HISB, where bright futures begin—and proud alumni always have a place to return.
